Matt and Mary Dooley - 06/19/2009 Something really awesome happened last night. My son and I went to dinner near the Virginia Beach oceanfront, which is about 10 minutes from home. The restaurant had big windows and, as we were finishing dinner, my eyes kept being drawn to the lightning from an approaching storm, but it did not concern me. Matt suggested we go and get ahead of the storm. We got in the car and the Christian radio station (which I rarely listen to because I listen to podcasts or CDs) was interrupted by a National Weather Service announcement that there was a tornado warning for Cape Henry (where our house is) and for the oceanfront (where we were) and that a tornado may already be on the ground. As Matt was driving, I could see the blackest storm in the direction of home and I could see the clouds almost touching the ground and/or water (we live close to both the Chesapeake Bay and the Back Bay, just north of our house) and I knew this was not your typical thunderstorm. It got blacker and blacker with more lightning as we drove home. I then started rebuking the storm in Jesus' name, with Matt agreeing that it would NOT touch down, that it would NOT harm us or anyone else and that it would go out to sea. That's EXACTLY what it did! There were people who posted photos on the Internet of the funnel over the water. Later, my friend Ellen (she has TV; we don't) said the news was all excited about it, but puzzled as to why it suddenly lifted and went away. I am telling you that the weather radar had it projected coming right down our main street! Praise God! He is awesome and in total control, as you say.
