Just last week, a close friend of mine, Alonzo Waters, who is a pastor of a small fellowship in New Castle, Pennsylvania, called me and shared the following shocking testimony. I have known him for about 15 years (even before he walked with the Lord) and can fully attest to the honesty and integrity of his character. I also spoke with "Mark" (another man who was involved) and the account is accurate and true. God has been working mightily in Alonzo's life. Although some of the techniques used in the testimony may not be entirely doctrinally perfect, we can see the power of Jesus' name and how Alonzo (having never experienced such things before) exercised spiritual discernment and authority in the name of Jesus Christ to deliver a young girl from demonic possession. Here is his testimony...
At the end of a church meeting on Sunday, January 4, 2010, a 16-year-old girl asked for prayer for a friend. A brother named Mark began to pray for the girl's friend. Having his eyes open, he noticed a demon manifesting in her eyes while he prayed for her friend. She started twitching with strange facial gestures. He brought her into another room where I was. "Pastor, you have to pray for this girl", he said. I noticed the girl's eyes were red as she stared at me, growling. A few other of the brethren came in and we had in mind to anoint her with oil and lay hands on her to cast the demon out. The girl began to back up and fell to the floor. So I asked for oil and anointed her and she started convulsing and going into a fit of rage. "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth to come forth and tell me who you are", I said. Her voice changed to a raspy evil tone and said, "I am legion". Her countenance was disfigured in demonic fashion. I then said, "In the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I command you to tell me how many are in there". A demonic voice answered, "seven".
There were five believers in the room praying and watching. At that point, we began to pray and lay hands on her and her back lifted off the floor, as if something was pulling her up supernaturally. I asked, "In the name of Jesus Christ, what is your name?" The first spirit came forth and said, "Jezebel". We anointed her with oil, declaring, "I command you to loose her and let her go in the name of Jesus Christ and go back to the pits of hell from whence you came". After a struggle, it went. Then another evil spirit began to speak in an unknown demonic tongue, using her voice. I heard the Spirit of God say to me, "It is trying to cast a spell on you; it is a spirit of witchcraft. Cast it out now".
At the direction of the Holy Spirit, I began in Jesus' name to charge the demons to answer some questions: "How long have you possessed her?" and "How did you enter her?" They answered, "Five years ago, when she was 11, at a séance". Then I commanded it to come out in the name of Jesus and the demon began to laugh at me. "I am not afraid of you". I said, "Do you not know that greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world?" I asked a brother who was nearby to hand me my bible and in faith I spoke to the demon, "I slay you with the sword of the Spirit, in the name of Jesus Christ, you spirit of witchcraft. Come out! " I proceeded toward her and touched the Bible on her. She collapsed on the floor, threw up and passed out. That demon had gone.
Then we began to pray again and read scripture aloud. I was exhausted and told Mark to pray and call forth the next spirit to identify itself in Jesus' name. It said, "Abatha". I began to feel weak in body so I asked for some to pray for me while this was going on. A woman who was there, Brenda, noticed the girl's eyes were getting even redder and the girl was fixed on me with evil gaze, saying, "I will not come out". The girl tried to get up to attack me. Those who were near were trying to hold her down. I charged the spirit, saying, "Come out in the name of Yeshua Ha'Maschiach (actually pronouncing it in the Hebrew tongue)". Whenever I said the name of Jesus in the Hebrew she would go into a fit of rage. After several charges to come out, the demon in the girl began crying in a childlike whimper, saying, "I favor her". After wrestling in the Spirit, we took her into another area of the church (which is an old storefront) to the altar. Brenda quickly looked up the name of the demon online at a nearby computer and she found that this particular demon, "Abatha", was an immoral, perverse, sexual spirit that was attracted to other women. Mark had a Word from the Lord about her being molested as a child and this is likely how this demon got in.
Someone had the idea to bring a huge, plain, wooden cross that we have in the building and set it in front of her. When she opened her eyes and saw the cross she screamed "Nooo! " and just about twisted her neck all the way around, holding her hands in front of her eyes as if it was a blinding light. The Lord impressed me to command the evil spirit to confess audibly that Jesus is Lord. So I said, "I command you in Jesus' name to say 'Jesus Christ is Lord'". The demon responded, "He is Lord". Thinking the demon was probably speaking of Lucifer, I commanded again, saying "No, say 'Jesus Christ is Lord! '" It began to stutter and could hardly get it out. It reluctantly confessed, saying, "Jesus Christ is Lord". They seemed to be weakened by the confession.
I spoke, saying "Jesus Christ paid the price for this young woman. He is seated at the right hand of the Father. I command you to look up and see Jesus interceding for her right now". The girl's face looked up intently toward the ceiling with a gaze, as though she was actually beholding the scene. There would be times when the girl would come to herself, saying she could feel the demons in her bowels and at times they would physically choke her. She would point to her throat, signifying she couldn't breathe, while coughing and gagging, etc. So, again, we anointed her with oil and I charged the demon by name, saying "Abatha, I command you to come forth and to loose her in Jesus' name! " and the girl began throwing up all kinds of blue stuff. Throughout this entire process, she must have thrown up 15 or more times. The room smelled of sulfur.
I was continually praying in the Spirit. After a few moments, some of the people felt as if the demons were all gone. I heard from the Lord, saying, "You are not done yet". So I went over to the girl and looked at her eyes and saw another demon that was still yet to come out. I said, "I command you in the name of Jesus to come forth and give your name". This demon gave a name starting with an "L" that was difficult to understand. I said again, "I command you to tell me how many of you are left". It said two. No matter where I was in the room, the demon would fix eyes on me continually, trying to see what I was doing. I went near and said, "I command you, in the name of Jesus Christ, tell me your assignment on this young lady's life", and it said, "Death". We laid hands on her and in Jesus' name said, "I command you to loose her and come out", and we set the Bible on her and this time she began to throw up red. The last demon to come out was the strongest. It gave a name called Ashbel. This was a name from the time of Saul, meaning "fire of bel". This spirit would not come out. This one seemed to be the strong one that was hosting all the others. "I command you, Ashbel, to come out and loose her in the name of Jesus Christ". It would not. After some time of praying and declaring scripture, we anointed her with oil once again and laid hands on her, praying, and the spirit finally surrendered, saying, "I give up".
Then I grabbed the young lady and said, "I command you to loose her in the name of Jesus Christ and go back to pit". This time she started throwing up yellow. When the demon had come out, she said it burned and had a foul taste like sulfur. The young lady's face looked different. Amazingly, she hugged the cross and started weeping and everyone started weeping and rejoicing. Mark led her in repentance and she was filled with the Holy Spirit of God, speaking in a heavenly tongue. Now there was a glow on her face. She had been delivered of eight demons. Praise the Lord! The whole event took four and a half hours. This was exhausting spiritual warfare. The next day it felt like a truck ran me over. This was the first time I had ever experienced such an encounter. It was sobering. Oh, the power of Jesus name! How awesome the Spirit of God! Oh, how we need to be walking in Christ always and avoiding sin at all cost!
After some investigation, it turned out that the girl's mother (who had been saved for years) had at one time held séances and read tarot cards. She played with Ouija boards and partook in other occult activities.
I pray that this testimony encourages you to draw near to God in holiness and Godly fear. As the day of Christ draws nigh, may we be expecting to see more and more of God's amazing hand, just like in the gospels and book of Acts. I am reminded also to rejoice, not because the demons are subject to us, but that our names are written in the book of life!
Another note: I shared Alonzo's testimony with UBM and it is on the UBM site, entitled God Can Get Your Attention.
