Baby Grace

Michael and Michele Weber - 09/29/2009

We would like to share our testimony with you of the home birth of our little baby girl, Grace Eilana Weber!

To start off, very shortly after I learned that I was pregnant, the Lord gave me a dream and in it He showed me that I was pregnant and then, all of a sudden, the baby was delivered. It was an incredibly fast process in my dream. I knew when I woke up that the Lord had showed me that the delivery would be very quick. I was thankful for that dream because for a season it was all I had to stand on, except for the Word, of course. I heard from other family members that our family is cursed with hard and long child labors. Some had c-sections and there were many complications. I knew I shouldn't receive any of that. When I would hear things like that I just reminded myself of what I saw in that dream. Several weeks before the delivery, my husband Michael had a very similar dream as the one I just shared! Thankfully, the pregnancy went very well and I went into labor on Wednesday, 9/09/09. I had my first contraction at about 1:30 am. The contractions were very sporadic and not as a usual labor probably should go. I quickly began rebuking the pain from the contractions and thanking the Lord.

I woke up my husband Michael about 2:00 am or so and told him what was going on. He thought it would be a good time to call the midwife. So we did and she came over right away. The contractions became closer and closer together very quickly and before the midwife was completely ready setting up for the birth, the baby was on her way out! Michael was such a blessing to me; he read and quoted scriptures to me with each contraction and prayed away the pain, etc. It all went very well and fast. Before we knew it, we had a little baby girl at 4:50 am. The whole labor from the start of the first contraction until she was out was a total of three hours and 20 minutes; that's only by the Lord's grace (which, by the way, is the name that the Lord gave us for our new daughter)! Now we know one of the reasons why He gave her that name is because He gave us a lot of grace with her and the delivery!

She was 8 pounds, 12 ounces and 21 inches. From what I hear, that's a big baby and for that to be my first baby is only by the grace of the Lord that it was that fast! All the Glory goes to the Lord. You know, as soon as she was delivered the Lord gave me the scripture, John 16:21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but when she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anquish, for the joy that a man is born into the world. I found out first hand how true those words truly are! Praise the Lord!

Interestingly enough, once Grace was delivered, the midwife noticed that I was still bleeding way more than she thought to be normal and I guess the uterus wasn't clotting or something like that. The midwife was very concerned. She immediately wanted to give me an injection of something to stop the bleeding but Michael and I both agreed that we would just trust the Lord for it to stop. They were very understanding and didn't push it on us. When the bleeding continued after prayer, she offered a liquid that supposedly helped stop the bleeding. She might have thought that we would receive something "natural" a little better. Of course, we just wanted to stand on the Word by faith and refused the liquid. Shortly after praying, the bleeding started to slow! Praise the Lord!! The midwife witnessed our stand in faith and did not stay long after the birth, which was a testimony to the Lord's provision because she wouldn't have left if she felt there was any danger.

It's funny but since I lost so much blood, the midwife recommended that I stay in bed for at least a day or so -- not even to use the bathroom without Michael at my side, holding my hand. She said I could easily pass out and could hit my head, etc. Well, we didn't receive that and later in the morning I decided I would just trust the Lord and go into the bathroom and take a shower. So I got up; I felt a little light-headed for a second but cast it down and took a shower like normal. I was perfectly fine, thanks to the Lord!

Several hours later, we had some visitors and so I took baby Grace downstairs and we visited like any other normal day! We felt the supernatural peace of the Lord over us! It was really neat! We give all the glory to the Lord for our special blessing and for His miraculous mercy on us for our first home birth.
