Jared Smith - 10/16/2008 I just want to share a quick testimony concerning fear and what it can do in a person's life. About two and a half years ago, I was driving my 2003 Toyota Matrix down the road and my A/C suddenly stopped and temperate began to rise. I turned the A/C on and off but nothing worked. I was living at my parent's house at the time and she told me to have it looked at. I brought it by a friend of mine who works at a service/parts store. He was looking at it and the look on his face did not look so good. He couldn't figure out why there was no Freon going to the compressor. He said it could be a bad compressor or an electrical issue; regardless, both would cost a pretty penny. I took his word for it and then got a second opinion. The next person I went to was another friend of mine who worked at an auto A/C place. His opinion was similar to the first person: a bad compressor or an electrical issue. I asked him what the cost of the repair would be around. He said a new compressor would be a few hundred dollars, and even an electrical issue would empty my wallet because of the labor expenses. So I felt stuck in between a rock and a hard place. What was I to do? I prayed over my car for healing, laying hands on it and pronouncing it healed. Nothing seemed to work. I began to live in fear and my lack of faith for my car rose. Well, here I am two and a half years later, battling the heat and humidity of two summers in South Mississippi, when the idea hit me: Why not just take it to an auto air place that is reputable and have it looked at professionally and get a quote on the repair. My roommate, John, said that there have been many times in his life where a mountain of a problem in reality was only an anthill. I took his advice and went for it just this past Monday. The whole time I was driving to the A/C shop, I was praying that the Lord would bless me in the affordability of repairing the car, and that these two and a half years of living in fear of a serious problem would turn out to be just a minor one... I walked into the lobby of the shop, told the serviceman that my A/C stopped working (I didn't say for how long, haha) and that I would like to have it looked at. I sat in the lobby and had a conversation with the nice lady behind the desk. 10 minutes passed by and the serviceman came out and shared the news. He handed me a small bag with a burnt relay switch and said, "Your relay switch was bad. This is common in Toyotas. It cost $55 at Toyota, so I am going to charge you another $25 for labor." I think, after taxes, I paid $85 for the relay switch and now MY A/C IS FIXED!!! PRAISE GOD FOR ANSWERED PRAYER!!! So the moral of my testimony is, no matter how big a problem seems in your mind, fear only makes it bigger. Living in fear, lacking in faith, accomplishes nothing. Let the Lord be Lord over the problems and hurdles in your life because He only increases your faith in Him through these. He said that His power (strength) is made perfect in our weakness. I was weak in my faith for a quick fix of my A/C in my car. His Light shined through and my mountain was, in reality, an anthill. Be encouraged, y'all, and God bless.
